Jyotirvidya Parisanstha has arranged a study tour to the “Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope” (GMRT) at Khodad and the “IUCAA Girawali Observatory” (IGO). GMRT is the world’s largest array of radio telescopes operating in metre wavelengths. It has a total of 30 fully steerable 45m diameter antennae arranged in a ‘Y’ shaped configuration spread across an area of 25 km diameter.
IGO hosts one of India’s biggest telescopes with a primary mirror of 2m diameter, observing in the visible and near-IR part of the EM spectrum.
