Lonar Crater was formed about 5 lakh years ago and is the only meteoritic crater formed in Basaltic rock. It is 1.8 km in diameter and is one of the biggest impact craters on earth. It’s a unique site with archeological, ecological, geological and astronomical importance. The study tour will include visit to places related to the impact phenomenon, e.g. Lonar Crater, Ambar Crater, and Sleeping Hanuman Idol along with other spots around Lonar. The tour will also include microscopic viewing of the samples collected in the crater and experiments related to pH, etc will be done.
