Lonar Study Tour July-2025

Lonar Crater was formed about 5 lakh years ago and is the only meteoritic crater formed in Basaltic rock. It is 1.8 km in diameter and is one of the biggest impact craters on earth. It’s a unique site with archeological, ecological, geological and astronomical importance. The study tour will include visit to places related to the impact phenomenon, e.g. Lonar Crater, Ambar Crater, and Sleeping Hanuman Idol along with other spots around Lonar. The tour will also include microscopic viewing of the samples collected in the crater and experiments related to pH, etc will be done.

5:00am on 18 July to 5:00pm on 20 July

Fees:

Dormitory Room (separate rooms for Men and Women)
₹7200/- p.p. for JVP members
₹7500/- p.p. Non-member
Charges include 3 Days and 2 Nights Stay at Lonar , transport from Pune to Pune, and Veg food during the travel.

Registration is mandatory, and the form needs to be filled out individually.
Registration will be considered complete after receipt of payment and filling out the complete Google form on the link above.

(1) I hereby accept that I am participating in Jyotirvidya Parisanstha (JVP) program on my own responsibility.
(2) Program may get changed because of unforeseen reasons and JVP will not be held responsible for the same.
(3) Fees for the tour once paid will not be refunded.
(4) During the tour all participants should obey all the instructions & decisions taken by the organizers.
(5) In case of any accident/ death or loss/ damage of valuable/ luggage or any equipment, JVP will not be responsible & no claims of the participants will be entertained.
(6) I will not abscond without informing organizers.
(7) Transportation cost may increase due to sudden increase in Diesel prices.

  3. Things to Carry? Water Bottle, Cap, Personal Medication, Warm Clothing and a list of personal kit below.
  4. Are cellphones allowed? Yes, but it may not have good cell coverage.
  5. What is included in the fee? Breakfast, Lunch, Transport, and Accommodation from Pune to Pune only.

    Recommended List of Personal Kit to be Carried by An Individual(not compulsory)

    ▪ Personal Medicine(s)
    ▪ A Handbag / Backpack/ Fanny Pack, a Cap / Hat, a pair of UV-protected sunglasses
    ▪ Thick windproof Overcoat / Jacket, a Poncho, a Sweater
    ▪ A pair of waterproof sports shoes & a set of Thermal Innerwear in case of cold weather
    ▪ Cold Cream, Sun Screen Lotion (SPF 35 or higher), Lip Balm
    ▪ Woollen Cap, Woollen Gloves, Woollen Socks, along with extra pairs, Woollen Scarf if necessary
