Participants will get an overview of observatory operations and observation procedure. They can also interact with the science staff at these observatories.

Important
– Participants have to reach Thiruvananthapuram on their own.
– Participants have to travel from Bengaluru back to their place on their own.
– JVP can advise participants about train choice, but booking (for above two journeys) is to be done by participants themselves.
– All other travels in the tour are included in the fee.

FAQs:
What is last date of booking?
Register as early as possible because we need to book train tickets between Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru.
What is the age limit?
Minimum age limit is 8th standard; no upper age limit.
What is mode of transport?
Intercity transport will be by train (3 tier AC). Local transport will by by Tempo traveller.
Where are we going to stay?
Decent hotel, not 5 star accommodation. Participants may need to share the room with another participant.
Things to carry?
Water bottle, cap, clothes, daily use things.
Can we see working of the telescopes?
It depends on the observation schedule of the observatory.
Are mobiles allowed in the observatory?
In Ooty radio telescope, mobiles need to be switched off as mobile radiations interfere in the observations.
What is included in the fee?
Travel from Thiruvananthapuram to Bengaluru, breakfast, lunch, dinner, hotel accommodation.Note that only VEG food will be arranged by JVP for all the meals.
